DAILY SHOW WRITER CHALLENGES PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES:
“WHAT’S YOUR PLAN FOR THE APOCALYPSE?”

John McCain and Barack Obama each claim to be the best man to defend America. But what if they’re called upon to defend our homeland from zombies?

Rob Kutner – writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and author of the bestselling APOCALYPSE HOW (“the ultimate survival guide”) – is appalled at the “shocking lack of end-time preparation talk” coming from either candidate.

“It’s like they haven’t even considered the economic, logistical, and security challenges of a robot takeover,” says Kutner, “At least Hillary Clinton would have been awake at 3 a.m., when they’d strike.”

“We need a president who’s equally comfortable negotiating trade treaties and bartering for petrol with leather biker punks.”

The Emmy-winning scribe is just as blistering about the current policy platforms offered by each, and how they reflect a “pre-pocalyptic mindset.”

“Obama claims his healthcare plan covers everyone,” Kutner says, “but what about radiation-spawned mutants? Would they be denied coverage for having a ‘post-existing condition’?” Nor does McCain get off easy: “Can we afford to maintain a presence in Iraq and stop a mad genius from aiming his giant freeze ray at the Eastern Seaboard?”

Kutner – whose book (www.apocalypsehowthebook.com) gives advice on everything from Food to Fashion to Career and Dating in the post-cataclysmic world – has therefore issued the ‘Presidential Apocalyptic Challenge’ – offering to support whichever candidate offers the best plan for the Days After.

And he’s calling on both candidates’ supporters to debate him and prove why their man is superior. “Obama supporters, what about ‘Change We Can’t Even Imagine?’ McCainiacs – Where’s the ‘Straight Talk’ about our likelihood of being hit by a climate-altering asteroid?”

“This election is critical” says Kutner, “this might be our last President ever.”
